Lately, Texas has been pumping out some quality bands and this demo is definitely no exception. Hailing from Houston, Texas, this demo is definitely one of my favorites of the year. Assuming this band got their name from the Cause For Alarm song, they definitely pay tribute to the almighty classic mid-late 80s NYHC sound. Fast-paced straight edge hardcore with cool skank and mosh parts. I look forward to hearing more from this band in the future. Enjoy!

Get The Most - Core Values (2007)

Get The Most was a hardcore band from Vancouver. It's weird reposting this because when I first did I think back in 2009, they were still a band. It sucks seeing bands I really like a lot break up, but that's just how it is. Anyway, this is actually this band's demo that was pressed into vinyl in 2007. This band has a strong Insted vibe and you'd really think they were a straight edge band, but they actually weren't. So if you're into bands like Insted, Unit Pride, Uniform Choice, all that good shit, you'll like this. It's super energetic, fast, and when I listen to the song Core Values, it makes me want to stage dive off of the Grand Canyon. Enjoy!

This band was on Lockin Out and if you're familiar with that label's discography at all especially around the time this was released then I'm sure you know what to expect. Alone In A Crowd - S/T

Alone In A Crowd - S/T (1989)

Alone In A Crowd was a short lived band from NY. This band was fronted by Jules from Side By Side and some members of Uppercut and Raw Deal if I remember correctly. It's 4 songs and 4 perfect songs at that. Every once in a while I'll throw out the Side By Side vs Alone In A Crowd debate and even though I personally like Side By Side a bit more, either answer is acceptable really. This record is hard as nails. Jules was an amazing front man and also wrote some pretty badass lyrics. Listen to When Tigers Fight and tell me you don't want to punch someone in the face. Enjoy!

At All Cost - Demo (1990)

This band was from Rockland County, NY. If you're into bands like Raw Deal, Outburst, Breakdown, Altercation, Sick Of It All or many of the other late 80's NYHC bands you will also enjoy this band as well. They had 2 demos. One in 1988 and one in 1990. This is the one from 1990 obviously and though I like both demos, this one stands out a bit more. I discovered this band because their singer, Jeff Guzman actually moved to a town next to me sometime in the early 90s. I remember once at a show a few years ago he was selling a bunch of cool records and I scored some gems from him. Wide Awake 7", Judge on Schism and Underdog on blue to name a few. We've been really cool ever since. If you like that era of hardcore in NY I advise you to get this shit. LET'S BUST THIS SHIT UP.. AT ALL COST STYLE! Enjoy!

Follow Through - Taking It Back

Follow Through - Taking It Back (1997)

Late 90's straight edge hardcore band from Connecticut. This band was fronted by Craig Mack. You might know him as the front man for the hardcore band Living Hell. I believe Jesse Standhard (Right Brigade, American Nightmare) was also in this band. They play the staple "youth crew revival" sound a la In My Eyes, Ten Yard Fight, Fastbreak, etc. I feel like this band/record is a bit under-appreciated, though. That also goes for Fastbreak. But yeah, check out this record and always remember YOU BOOZE YOU LOSE and that's the bottom line! Enjoy!

Late 80's Connecticut hardcore band. I'm not sure if they were straight edge or not. I actually don't know too much about this band though I have met a couple of the members at a show once. It's a funny story too because I had just finished uploading this record to the previous version of The Price Of Silence blog. Shortly after (a week or two probably) I went to a show either Youth Of Today or The Cro-Mags at the El-N-Gee in New London, CT and was talking with some dudes and they mentioned being in a band called Payback and I was like HOLY SHIT I just uploaded you guys to my music blog! But anyway, this band is pretty damn cool and definitely under the radar, so check it out. Has a the staple late 80's straight edge hardcore band sound along the lines of Confront, Youth Of Today, Wide Awake, you get the idea! Enjoy!
